Vegan Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)
BCAAs, or branched-chain amino acids, are a group of three essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs make up a large chunk of the body’s total amino acid pool. Together, they represent around 35–40% of all essential amino acids present in our body and 14–18% of those found in our muscles.*
There have been numerous clinical trials investigating the effects of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) supplementation on various health outcomes. Some of the key findings from these trials include:
Muscle building: Several trials have found that BCAA supplementation can support muscle building and repair, and may help prevent muscle loss.
Exercise performance: Some trials have found that BCAA supplementation can improve exercise performance by reducing fatigue and increasing endurance.
Fatigue reduction: Some trials have found that BCAA supplementation can reduce fatigue during intense exercise, allowing for longer and more intense workouts.
Weight management: Some trials have found that BCAA supplementation can help support weight management by promoting fat loss and preventing muscle loss.
